Oh, I so much wish they'd fix CoE. But I really don't think they will, so I had to do it myself (and no doubt there will be reams of fic doing the same.)

I think I portrayed John as a little too "good" in this story (though he does steal and swindle his way through life even here, enjoying every minute!) but I was in a rush to get this written. Jack and John made me write it! :-) And yes, in my opinion John is very much in love with Jack, even if he has an odd way of showing it!
